Agility BPM™ is a web-enabled process automation and orchestration tool, which can be used to rapidly replace large portions of legacy applications, including the user interfaces, with little or no programming. With Agility BPM™, business processes are graphically designed and interpretively executed by the process automation engine, which is written with CA Gen and therefore runs natively on all CA Gen supported platforms and seamlessly integrates with existing CA Gen action blocks.
At runtime, Agility BPM™ automates data collection and complex processes using a rich web 2.0 user interface within the QAT WebDaptive open framework. This allows the processes to be to be seamlessly integrated with other native Gen pages and/or hand written pages as a single application. The client has a full set of Web 2.0 user interface controls, formatting, validation, error handling, relational edits and much more.
On the back end, Agility BPM™ allows for IT services to be registered and reused. These IT Services include Gen Action Blocks, Web Services and other custom services. Using registered Gen Action Blocks as services is a core feature that allows Agility BPM™ to rapidly modernize legacy CA Gen applications.
At design time, Agility BPM™ provides a graphical modeling tool that can be used by business or IT analysts to define and automate complex business processes without programming. The CA Gen API is used to consume Gen objects directly into the process design with automation tools that integrate directly against the Gen models.
The maintenance process is rapid and flexible because most changes are simply a software configuration instead of software development, testing and turnover. Examples of common changes that can be done without development services include adding, changing or removing fields from the interface, adding changing or removing entire steps in the process or changing the decisions used to guide the sequencing of the steps. Examples of changes that require development services include the development and/or registration of database or integration services to re-use within Agility BPM™.
On average, Agility BPM™ will automate 40-70 percent of the user interfaces in a typical enterprise application. It also automates the sequencing of not only the automated pages, but other custom applications pages as they are seamlessly integrated within the process.
